''Doellingeria umbellata'' (known by the common names white aster or parasol whitetop)〔 is a North American plant species in the aster family. It is native to Canada (from Alberta to Newfoundland), St. Pierre and Miquelon, and the eastern and north-central United States (from Nebraska and the Dakotas east to Maine and South to Mississippi, Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.〔(Biota of North America 2014 county distribution map )〕〔(Biota of North America 2014 state-level distribution map )〕 ''Doellingeria umbellata'' is a perennial up to 200 cm (80 inches) tall, spreading by means of underground rhizomes.
